Salman Khan Has No Time For Riteish Deshmukh's Remake

Ritesh Deshmukh's 2014 Marathi film Yellow, that won a National Award last year, may take forever to reach out to the Hindi speaking audience. After watching it at a special screening, Salman Khan had reportedly assured Ritesh and Yellow's director Mahesh Limaye that he will co-produce the Hindi remake of the film. However, over a year has gone by but there's no progress on the project.
Insiders believe the remake has been pushed indefinitely because Salman has had no time to go through the script and approve it for the pre-production work to commence.
When contacted, Mahesh confirmed the news, saying, "The script is more or less ready but Salman has no time to go through it. And without his approval, we can't move an inch on the remake. It's a story that should reach as many people as possible. But Salman sir is very busy and I will have to wait."
Yellow is based on the true story of Gauri Gadgil, a special-needs child, who also plays herself in the film. It was released on April 4, 2014, and received critical acclaim. At the 61st National Film Awards that year, it won the Special Jury Award, while child actors Gauri Gadgil and Sanjana Rai received a Special Mention.
What if Salman doesn't produce the remake at all? Would Mahesh still come up with one? "Yes, I will. I'm willing to go that extra mile for this film if Salman doesn't come on board eventually. I am sure Ritesh will agree with me on this. And I will cast Gauri once again in the remake," says Mahesh.
